However, sleep deprivation has drastic effects on the body. Unfortunately, most of these effects are ignored and thought to be a result of something else. Sleep is necessary for the human body to gain composure and energy. Therefore, you should never compromise on proper sleep. Let’s look at some of the scary effects of sleep deprivation:
Anger
You may have noticed that whenever you get less sleep you tend to be more cranky and aggressive. This is because sleep is directly linked to frequent outbursts of anger. If you deprive your body of sleep you are likely to feel angrier than usual. This has also been proved by various researches. Depriving your body of sleep is the core cause of hostile behavior. So, if you find yourself getting angry more frequently, it’s time to amend your sleeping habits.
Stress
Sleep deprivation also causes stress. Stress has a profound negative impact on the body. This includes eating disorders and subsequently, weight gain. If you don’t want to pack on a few extra pounds, you have to release stress. Lack of sleep is one of the main causes of stress. Being under constant stress can also have negative effects on your memory.
Depression
In most cases, people feel depressed when they are sleep deprived. When depressed, they resort to anti-depressant medications, alcohol or worse, drugs. If you find that you feel depressed often, assess your sleeping habits. Getting proper sleep may well be the foremost cure for your depression.

Most people drive to work. Feeling fatigued while driving can be fatal. If you deprive yourself of sleep, you could fall victim to excessive fatigue. More than 90,000 accidents each year are caused because of sleep deprivation. Therefore, you should always be on the lookout for symptoms that your body is sleep deprived.
Cardiovascular Diseases
Cardiovascular diseases are more common than ever. Most people are unaware of how sleep is linked to this. If you deprive your body of sleep, the cardiovascular system undergoes extreme stress. In other words, depriving your body of sleep is likely to cause cardiovascular problems, like blood pressure irregularity and may even cause heart attacks.
